Emergency Response & Programme Quality

Led by Katerina

Who it’s for

Country directors, heads of programmes, protection cluster and consortium leads, and donors who need senior, independent support on protection programming, programme quality, or emergency response — under real-world time pressure, not a six-month evaluation cycle.

The triggering problem

A response is scaling fast, a donor has raised questions, a strategy needs grounding in current protection risks, or leadership needs a clear-eyed external read on whether programming is doing what it claims — and needs it in weeks.

What LUMiX delivers

  • Protection risk and civilian harm analysis grounded in current context dynamics

  • Technical advisory and interim project management for protection sector programming

  • Review of programme quality against sector standards, with gender, GBV, and MHPSS integration assessed rather than assumed

  • Decision-ready, policy-facing analysis written for donors, senior leadership, and inter-agency mechanisms — not a report that sits on a shelf

  • Integrated Safe Tech, Digital & AI review: where the programme relies on digital data collection, case management, or AI tools, we assess them against protection and do-no-harm standards as part of the same engagement

  • Capacity transfer built in: findings are handed over through working sessions with the team, not only in writing

Typical duration

Assignments run from a minimum of 7 days up to 90 days, with most engagements delivered in 2–8 weeks.

What you have at the end

A prioritised, evidence-based picture of protection risks and programme quality, an actionable set of recommendations sequenced by urgency, and a team that understands the findings well enough to act on them.

Why LUMiX

Katerina has led multi-agency protection consortia — including a GBP 7M FCDO-funded consortium in Sudan and the Protection Consortium of Iraq — and has designed country protection strategies, emergency responses, and gender and protection assessments for organisations including NRC, DRC, CARE, and International Medical Corps, with donor engagement spanning ECHO, FCDO, BHA, UNHCR, and the European Commission.
